Executive Car Rental’s website did not appear to be fully functioning when we tried to browse reservations.  We tried out several locations and dates and kept getting error messages.

According to The Detroit News, Michigan’s Attorney General’s office reached a nearly $40,000 settlement agreement with Executive Car Rental in March 2019. The action followed a wave of customer complaints alleging that the company failed to return damage deposits in a timely manner. There were also other billing issues. The agreement required the company to stop collecting security deposits and allow customers in Michigan to inspect cars for damage.

Reviews of Executive

While Executive has positive reviews in some corners of the internet, it has also attracted a large number of complaints.

Executive is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). In addition, it has racked up 546 complaints on the consumer protection website in the past three years. It just has one star out of five based on an average of 52 customer reviews. The BBB says the company has a pattern of complaints related to returning deposits. In addition, there are “billing issues” related to the Florida SunPass toll program.

On Google Reviews, Executive has a rating of 3.6 stars at its Tampa location and 4 stars at its Romulus, Michigan location near Detroit Metropolitan Airport. But on Yelp, Executive Car Rental’s Romulus location has two out of five stars, while the Tampa location has only one star.

Is Executive Car Rental a Good Choice?

Considering the high number of customer complaints about Executive on the BBB website and our inability to contact the company by phone or email, we recommend considering other options for your next car rental reservation.
