How Thrifty Car Rental Coupons Work
Thrifty’s promo codes are typically six or seven-digit numbers, depending on the type of deal you find. Thrifty offers several types of discounts through these coupon codes, which can be tied to a specific promotion or membership program.
Unlike some car rental companies, you can apply either a coupon code or a discount code but not both to the same reservation. Here are some of the most common types of offers:
Base rate discounts
These coupons slash a certain dollar amount or percentage off of the base rate of your Thrifty rental before taxes, fees and charges for add-on services. These deals may be limited to specific timeframes or locations, or require you to rent the car for a certain period of time. For example, Thrifty might offer a coupon for 10% off of the base rate of a weekly car rental that requires having the car for at least five days. While this deal may seem tempting, keep in mind that a prepaid rate locks you in, and cancelling a prepaid reservations usually requires paying a fee. So, it’s usually better to use a promo code for a “Pay Later” reservation if you can find one.
